Description of Duties:

•Demonstrate familiarity with NAVSEA and OEM drawing interpretation and review, and be able to translate this information to written guidance.

•Demonstrate ability for interpreting detailed repair publications routinely used for shipboard equipment repairs.

•Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy maintenance programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.

•Must have recent and current experience within two (2) years.

•Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.

•Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

•Demonstrate an understanding of activity missions, chain of command structure, organizational objectives and administrative policies.

•Demonstrated experience in maintaining, organizing, tracking the status and prioritization of engineering documents (both physical and electronic records).

•Minimum of eight (8) years general experience with the surface ship HM&E repair, installation, operation, testing and maintenance.

•Experience in the development, execution, certification, review, and revision of critical systems process control procedures (PCP) for critical systems on non-nuclear surface ships.

• Experience with oversight, conduct, and participation in unplanned events, fact findings, and critiques utilized by the US Navy in ascertaining root cause and short and long term corrective actions.

• Have knowledge about the structure and make-up of the role of government oversight of contracted ship repair for US Navy surface ship maintenance repair and overhaul as it relates to the Naval Supervising Activity (NSA).

• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and Naval engineering plans and processes, and apply these to everyday applications.

•Demonstrate the ability to utilize multi-disciplined engineering principles and practices where significant deviations from established methods and procedures are required.

•Applicants please provide examples where sound engineering judgment, initiative and originality were employed to develop new techniques, methods, criteria, policy, procedures, and or guidance for the solution of unique, unusual or complex engineering problem(s) which have no known precedents.                     

Special Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or Physics from an accredited four (4) year college or university. 

Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
