Description of Duties:

Provide technical assistance, assessment, inspection, corrective actions and groom support for code 242 at MARMC, Norfolk, VA.  Conduct inspections/assessments of equipment/conditions and parameters for out of specification settings.  Evaluate and document findings and provide repair recommendations.  Provide debrief following each ship visit. 

Demonstrated working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits. 

Demonstrated regular use of accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment. 

Demonstrated ability for interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics. 

Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. 

Ability to document all findings and recommended corrective actions into the approved Navy databases (i.e. 3M or CADET). 

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.  

Minimum of eight (8) years general experience with the installation, repair, testing and maintenance of tanks, voids, spaces/compartments, and topside areas of US Naval vessels.   

Experience in assessment, repair, and maintenance of tanks, voids, spaces/compartments, and topside areas on US Naval Ships. 

Minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience working and inspection of ship structures, and have knowledge of welding requirements 

Have knowledge about sheet-metal, preservation, insulation, piping and electrical systems on US Naval ships. 

Current within three (3) years hands-on experience with this equipment. 


Special Requirements:

High School or GED 

Must be currently NACE certified S-CAT Technician
