Description of Duties:

Provide technical assistance, assessment, inspection, corrective actions and groom support for code 255 (Sliding Pad Eyes, Boat Davits, Antenna Tilting Groups, Cranes, and Chocks) at MARMC, Norfolk, VA.   

Conduct Fleet technical assistance on site or distant to include engineering/technical evaluations, equipment functional checks, troubleshooting, test, analysis and equipment repairs as tasked.  Provide onboard maintenance training to ship’s force 

Assist Ships Force to troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.   

Evaluate and document findings and provide repair recommendations.  Provide debrief following each ship visit.  Conduct assessments, inspections and grooms. 

Analyze inspection data 

Suggest equipment engineering changes 

Assist with preparing/adjudicating Departures from specifications, Engineering Support Requests, and review of work items/process control procedures and risk assessment. 

Report findings 

Demonstrated working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits. 

Demonstrated regular use of accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment. 

Demonstrated ability for interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics. 

Knowledge of Naval Message formatting and drafting and Navy correspondence.   

Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. 

Be familiar with reporting requirements of the 3M system per NAVSEAINST 4790.8C. 

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.  

Minimum of six (6) years general experience in the operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of US Naval Deck Machinery to include, but not be limited to, capstans, sliding padeyes, boat davits, antenna tilting groups, cranes, chocks,   

Minimum two (2) years’ experience in troubleshooting and assessment of US Naval Deck 4quipment, in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for either a US Navy engineering activity or an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
