Description of Duties:

Provide technical assistance, assessment, inspection, for Code 200 for the following equipment (not an all-inclusive list) Main Propulsion Generator Gas Turbines, Machinery Control Systems Torsion meters, full power trials, MMGTG, controls, SSFTG Controls and support systems, and gas turbine vibration analysis at MARMC, Norfolk, VA. Conduct fleet technical assistance, groom support, inspections and assessments of equipment/conditions and parameters for out of specification settings. Observe full range of operation of equipment performance where possible, conduct hot and cold checks, obtain data with accepted instrumentation, oversee ship’s force accomplishment of adjustments and make repairs to the maximum extent possible in the time available. Evaluate and document findings and provide repair recommendations. Provide debrief following each ship visit.

Demonstrated working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.

Demonstrated regular use of accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.

Demonstrated ability for interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics.

Conduct technical assessment visits, witness operation, troubleshoot, train crews, recommend changes, submit

changes via PMSMIS and TDMIS, provide written and oral debriefs to Commanding Officers.

Be familiar with ILS LOGICOM, TAS-info and Fleet Scheduling Center

Able to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer

digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Minimum of five (5) years' experience operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and assessment of DDG 51 class MCS and support systems with at least 6 months occurring in the last 12 months. Current working knowledge of universal engineer controllers, interim integrated electronic controller, engine controllers, shaft control units, digital fuel controllers, PC based control and monitoring systems. Ability to troubleshoot propulsion and auxiliary hardware, such as transducers, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples signal conditioning programmable logic controllers PLC, full authority ditial controls, and OC base control and monitoring systems.


Special Requirements:

High School or GED

Class “C” school or OEM school
